Meet Buddy!

alt

He is a beautiful 3-year-old Kooikerhondje x Papillon who weighs under 9kg.

Buddy is looking for his forever home! A few weeks ago we rescued him from a lethal injection at a dog pound. He is now in Auckland, while waiting for his ideal home. Buddy is super friendly; he will need daily walks, to attend group obedience classes & lots of cuddles. He would be best suited to an individual, a couple or a family with older children who can give him all of the love, fun & attention he deserves!

If you are interested in adopting Buddy please visit the Dog Adoption page of our website where you will also find our contact details, thank you!

PIGS DESERVE BETTER THAN THIS – Boycott pork!

alt

Watch TV1 on Sunday 29th June at 7pm to see what happens behind the doors of New Zealand’s pig factory farms. The current affairs show Sunday will again reveal what the pork industry doesn't want us to see.

Last year activist group Farmwatch visited a farm in Christchurch and what they found was horrifying. Footage was taken and provided to SAFE who made a complaint to the Ministry for Primary Industries. MPI promised to undertake regular monitoring to ensure the ongoing welfare of the animals.

In April - exactly one year later - Farmwatch revisited the farm. Their shocking findings form the basis of a story that desperately needs to be told…

SUE GIVES BACK

Sue is absolutely delighted to be one of the guardian angels for rescued dog  Biggles.

She wanted to show her appreciation for our work with animals in strife so has come up with a generous initiative that sees her baking up a storm. Her doggy treats are being handed out at parks, beaches and bushwalks around Auckland to raise awareness and funds for us. Whether or not your dogs are gifted with Biggle’s treats, please support Sue’s hard work and dedication with a donation referenced BIGS. Many thanks in anticipation. The wording on her flyer is below. Huge gratitude to Sue, Biggles and his guardian angels.

Biggles Gives Back

I hope your dog friend enjoys these treats. I’ve baked them to give away to raise awareness and support for Animal Re-homing.

Biggles was abandoned or lost on the North Shore but was under a lucky star when he invited himself into the right home. Animal Re-homing was contacted. Despite extensive advertising and searching, his owners were not found. Now Biggles has permanent guardians, is loved by a number of us and will live out his days happy and secure.

Animal Re-homing is a registered charitable trust (CC50451) dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of animals. Some people are neglectful and cruel to our friends. Thank goodness Animal Re-homing works at the other end of the scale, putting in tireless effort, time, love and money into re-homing. This often involves rescue, vet treatments, rehabilitation, assessment, re-training, medications, feeding, fostering, boarding, exercising, bathing etc until new respectful guardians are found.

I want to help Animal Re-homing to save more animals like Biggles who have not lived the charmed life that we give our pets and I hope you will donate to this cause.

See the website www.animalrehoming.co.nz  You might even find a friend who deserves you as their second chance.

You can do this:

  • Online transfers or counter donations may be made to Animal Re-homing bank account 12:3059:0650626:00 with ASB Browns Bay
  • Credit card donations may be made via the website
  • Post a cheque to Animal Re-homing, PO Box 35-298, Browns Bay, Auckland 0753
  • See a wish list of items on the website that you may be able to donate

Please reference your donation with BIGS so I know how this initiative is going and whether I should keep baking. Sue.

UPDATE: Biggles Gives Back raised over $400. Huge thanks to Sue, the donors and all the volunteers who handed out dog treats around Auckland. You did Biggles proud!

JESSIE RAISED $4,190 FROM HER HALF MARATHON

JESSIE RAISED $4,190 FROM HER HALF MARATHON

Thank you so much to all who sponsored her

When Jessie met the cat we had rescued from a life of extreme hardship, she and Archie fell in love. To read about Archie’s rescue, recovery and happy ending, please click here.

As a tribute to her beautiful feline companion, Jessie competed in the Half Marathon in Rotorua. She confesses that she was “no runner” at the time, so this arduous 21km undertaking was an act of sacrifice, love and big-heartedness.

Thank you for your support of Jessie, for promoting her passionate goal on your websites, Facebook and other social media pages - and for forwarding the links to your friends, families and work colleagues. We know animal-lovers came forward to make all the hard work worthwhile for this young woman who remembered her beloved Archie with each step of her gruelling training sessions.

We are very proud of Jessie for throwing herself into an action that was so unnatural to her basic nature. We greatly appreciate your support of her, and the animals we were able to rescue, through your sponsorship.

Jessie completed the challenge in 2 hours and 47 minutes. With burning feet and an aching body, thoughts of Archie spurred her on when she thought she had no energy left. Huge congratulations Jessie! You have done us, Archie and yourself proud...

Jessie's fundraiser enabled three of the animals under our umbrella to have surgery. Thank you so much for making this possible and being for being part of Jessie's vision!

TWO DOGS FOUND IN OUR FOSTERER'S GARDEN

bull-terrier-gold-face-kellyMy fosterers were awakened by their dogs barking when two Pit Bull Terrier type dogs were put over their padlocked, six foot fences at 1am this morning.

They may be sisters and are estimated to be young adults.

Both dogs are well-fed, in good condition and are very cuddly and playful. Unfortunately they wore no collars on arrival and their microchips have not been registered to any contact details.

Would whoever secretly put them over the fence, please contact me as soon as possible?

The dogs cannot stay at this home and I currently have no other fosterers available.

I need to know the reason for this abandonment or theft - before a safe solution can be found for these friendly dogs.

Please also contact me if you know of someone whose two loved dogs went missing around 25/5/13.

All responses will be kept in confidence as there is clearly some desperation in this situation.

Please urgently contact me.

Thank you.
