Three Tiny Cockerels are Saved

When four tiny cockerels were dumped at a public park, it was only a matter of time before they would die of starvation, hypothermia or be killed by cats and dogs. Kind-hearted Troy heard about their plight and rushed to rescue them. Sadly, he was too late for one, but he saved three little Pekin roosters that day. We were contacted, named them Prince, Troy and Charlie Chaplin, then settled them into our holding pen while the long search for a home began.

Due to their size, we were on the lookout for a large, permanent enclosure where they would be safe from hawks and other predators. One of our supporters, Billie, generously offered a near-new one that was sitting unused on her property. Malcolm and Anthony from Arborfield Sanctuary Charitable Trust met us at Billie’s place to help us dismantle the structure. As soon as they had it reassembled and furnished at their sanctuary, we took the gorgeous Pekins’ to their new home.

Many thanks to Troy, Billie, and Arborfield Sanctuary. And a special thanks to Ngaire and Russell for allowing us to build our holding pen on their property all those years ago – it has saved hundreds of lives…

Cleo has found her ideal retirement home

Susan had been unable to find a home for her beloved Somali cat of 15 years when the time came to move into a retirement village. Susan’s caregiver contacted us and, amidst tears, we collected Cleo from her lifetime home. We are very grateful to Billie who then agreed to foster Cleo at such short notice.

Another animal-lover, Lesley, had adopted one of our cats (also named Cleo) almost five years ago. When she advised us that her much loved companion had recently died at the ripe old age of 19, we gently asked if she would consider offering a home to another senior. She agreed to adopt Cleo #2.

When we took her to Lesley’s home, we thought Cleo would disappear under a bed or into a wardrobe. Instead, she explored it from top to bottom, had a feed, used the litter tray, smooched around Lesley and settled down on the sofa to give herself a thorough wash. How we love happy endings! Zebra needs a gentle, quiet home please

When Zebra’s family started some noisy renovations, she was terrified to go outside. With no litter trays provided inside, she had no option but relieve herself in the house. Because of this, 7-year-old Zebra was taken to the vet clinic for a lethal injection. Thank goodness we were contacted.

During the three months this gently affectionate girl has been with us, she has never toileted anywhere except in her litter-box. Pretty Zebra is enjoying the peaceful and cosy atmosphere of our office, but we would like to see her in a calm and loving home of her own. A secure apartment environment would also be considered for her.

Zebra is shy and a little timid, so her new caregivers will need to patiently wait to earn her trust. Once she feels safe, she is a very sweet companion. Ideally she will be adopted into a quiet home where she is the only dependent.

If you would like to be considered for Zebra’s adoption, please contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Homes Needed for Bereaved Cats

It is with a heavy heart that we advise of the passing of our precious personal friend and loyal supporter Twink McCabe – TeTauri. We have rallied side by side at animal protests, made beaded fundraising bracelets together and advocated for animals at every opportunity. Twink has fostered many of our rescued ex-battery hens and cats over the years. Her cattery, Purrpetual Cattery (now closed) constantly offered a safe haven for our waifs, who settled quickly due to her gentleness and extensive cat experience.

Before she died, Twink entrusted her own beautiful fur-babies to us because she knew that each of them would be placed with just the right people to suit their individual needs and natures. Bo Peep, Jack, Romeo, Tonto and Harley are looking for very loving homes. Please contact us if you would like to be part of Twink’s cat family.

Please also e-mail us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you are able to offer a spare room to foster any of our rescued felines.

Twink - generous, kind and dearly missed…
