I have excellent news for all of you who have been waiting for a further update on the old dog who has captured so many hearts since my initial plea for him. Jake has made it. Against all the odds, he has come through his medical ordeal with flying colours.

Jake is still alive!
When I left the emergency clinic in the early hours of this morning, he was just beginning to wake up – so we were delighted that Jake had at least survived the two-hour surgery. He had just opened his eyes in this photograph.
Dear Friends, I need your immediate help please!
As I write (at about 10.30pm), a beautiful senior citizen dog named Jake is undergoing emergency surgery at an after-hours vet clinic in Auckland. Jake is suffering from a life-threatening condition called gastric stomach tortion from which dogs generally die within one – two hours without medical intervention. With our vet bills currently totalling more than $4,000.00 and with rescue and computer equipment needing to be replaced, we have been forced to minimise our life-saving work with animals to run a nation-wide fundraising raffle. If just two hundred of our supporters can commit to selling one book of tickets, the necessary funds will be raised and $1,000.00 will be donated to victims of the Christchurch earthquake.

is to reunite lost and found animals with their caregivers.

who have been traumatised by earthquakes.
