SAMMY NEEDS YOUR URGENT HELP

----------- PLEASE DONATE AND SHARE ------------

When sweet natured Sammy came into our care, we knew he had some health issues to be addressed. He needed to see the animal eye specialist for his ulcerated eyes, he needed his ears cleaned and treated, he needed antibiotics/medicated shampoo for his skin infection, he needed a bath/groom... and he needed a dental.

What we didn't expect, is that Sammy would also need significant leg surgeries. While out with his fosterer, Sammy bounded towards a big dog to say hello. When the dog loudly barked at him, he skidded to a stop and tried to run backwards, twisting and rupturing the cruciate ligaments in BOTH of his hind legs. While awaiting surgery, he is currently on pain relief and bedrest.

We need to raise $5,000 as quickly as possible. With our outstanding vet bills already sitting at almost $6,000, we urgently need your help for Sammy's future operations.

Thank you so much for donating whatever you can afford towards his upcoming costs. We look forward to being able to share Sammy's post-operative photos with you.

BOOF IS REUNITED WITH HIS FAMILY

When local man Shaun (and Ralph, his Jack Russell x) saw a huge dog wandering aimlessly through Browns Bay shopping area, he followed him and contacted us for help.

We enticed the American Bulldog x Mastif with tidbits, slipped a loop over his head and invited him into our car. Fortunately he obliged and the hunt was then on for his guardians.

A few hours later we were in touch with a delighted woman named Shirley and learned that this big soft boy "Boof" was stolen during a burglary... or after the thieves left their gate open. This was over two months ago and over an hour's drive from the North Shore. The family's search for him has been fruitless until now.

Photographic evidence and a call to council confirmed Shirley's story, along with Boof's enthusiastic response when we called him by name.

Thank you so much to Shaun and all of our wonderful followers for sharing Boof's post far and wide. Between us all, he and his family have a very HAPPY ENDING and we can all sleep peacefully tonight.

NOTE: If you have seen anyone with Boof, in the Browns Bay area or anywhere else during the past 2 months, please contact us with details at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Alfie was in five homes during the first 6 months of his life.

Through no fault of his own, poor little Alfie was in five homes during the first 6 months of his life. We are so very happy that he is now thriving in his forever home... and will never be moved again. In the words of his family,

"The adoption process has been lovely and it's wonderful to know that all the animals in your care find the perfect homes. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to you, Maria (Alfie's fosterer) and the committee. We are feeling so blessed and we will love and cherish Alfie for all his days. He is happy as, we are so proud of him. Just love him to bits. He melts our hearts. We took him to the beach and he was straight into the water. I don't think he has stopped smiling since he came here. We can't stop saying thank you enough. Thank you!"

With so much interest in this little man, we thought you would all enjoy some photos of him loving his new life and family.

Thank you so much for the dozens of beautiful applications we received for Alfie. Hopefully we will be able to place a homeless waif with each of you in time. Please adopt, don't shop.

Wishing Alfie and his family a wonderful life together! ?

Maria is pictured giving Alfie his final cuddles.

Often the hardest part of being a fosterer is saying goodbye when we place the rescued animals in their permanent homes. We are very grateful to Maria and her son for welcoming Alfie into their lives while we sought an ideal home for him. They did a magnificent job of taking care of his every need. Thank you so much Maria and Koz!

Please check in later this week to see photos and video of Alfie with his doting new family.

Alfie is a dear little (11kg) Cavalier King Charles Spaniel X Bichon Frise pup who is looking for an active and loving home. He is being fostered for us in East Coast Bays, so it would be ideal, but not essential, if he could remain in the area he is familiar with. Being an almost 8-month-old puppy, it's important Alfie is placed in a home where he will have human company most of the time and where the property is fully and securely fenced. His successful applicant(s) will need to book a series of group dog training classes as a condition of his adoption.

Alfie is one of the sweetest, most loving, eager, playful and happy little fellows to come into our care. We expect a good response to his advert, so please include your phone numbers and tell us a little about yourself and the lifestyle you would provide for him. Alfie may enjoy a home with an accepting resident dog. Due to his age and youthful boisterousness, he would not suit senior or frail people, or children under about 10 years - although he loves people of all ages.

Applications close next Friday (19th) and you will be contacted by the end of next weekend. We look forward to your expressions of interest. Thank you so much!
