WOW! We live in exciting times!

Wow, we really are living in exciting times!

Eating animals is so bad for the environment, your health, and of course the animals involved. Impossible Foods has now created a revolutionary burger patty that looks, tastes and even bleeds exactly like meat, but is produced entirely from plants. We can't wait to sink our teeth into it

Helping the animal companions of homeless people

When we receive donations of animal products, we not only use them for our own rescue animals, we also share them with other organisations and animals in need.

Often when people become homeless they worry about providing for their beloved animal companions. Depending on our resources we include them under our umbrella to ensure they are as happy and healthy as any other loved pets. Today we enjoyed dropping off another batch of goodies (food, collars, leads, flea & worm treatments, bowls, etc) to some of these cats & dogs and their grateful caregivers. Any donations for these animals are very welcome. At the moment, we especially need dog toys & kongs for them and money towards their veterinary care.

Pablo and Vernie await their families…

Pablo and Vernie are now looking for families to call their own.

These affectionate rescue pups are healthy, playful, full of beans, and are complete sweethearts who love socialising with people and dogs alike. They are also super adorable and photogenic, so we wanted to share a few pictures we’ve taken since they’ve become Animal Re-homing boys.

Pablo is a 2-year-old white Labrador X and Vernie is an 8-month-old brindle mixed breed pup. They are both strong, energetic dogs who love adventurous walks, and they could happily go to homes with other canine companions.

Introducing Sue…

From the time Sue co-adopted a lovely senior dog named Biggles through us, she hasn’t stopped supporting our work with inventive fundraising initiatives. She has sold handmade baked dog treats, set up a novel coffee donation box at her workplace and has so far raised an incredible $2,247.40 through the creation and sale of beaded bracelets. To see photos of the volunteer bracelet making weekend held in her home visit https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.355209601328542.1073741831.276406992542137&type=3

We would like to acknowledge and thank Sue for her ongoing kindness, enthusiasm and help with our animals. You rock Sue! Biggles is the luckiest boy on the planet to have you as one of his primary caregivers. To read about Biggles’s unusual adoption and Sue’s dog treat enterprise, please click here

Visit to Torbay Brownie Unit

Brownie leader, Lauren, invited us to visit her Torbay Unit to help the children earn their Animals Badge. She wrote, “I completely understand if you're too busy - but we are keen to support a local organisation if possible, making our girls aware of your work and helping out in the way of any service that we could do - bringing along food or items to donate, etc”.

A delightful group of Brownies, leaders and parents greeted us when we arrived with one of our homeless pups, Vernie. A lively, interactive talk followed with plenty of questions and comments. Vernie was extremely happy to be petted by every child (and adult) in the room.

The children kindly donated pet food and some of our books and bowls were purchased. After the talk we were spoilt with flowers and beautiful handmade thank you cards.

We hope the Torbay Brownie Unit will continue to support our work with animals in strife. We heard talk of a bake sale…
