Preparing the shelter animals for torrential rain

With storms, torrential rain, power cuts, wind and flooding predicted, we have spent the day securing the hatches and making sure our shelter animals will be as safe and as comfortable as possible.

Please bring any animals indoors tonight. Set up toileting areas, food and water and a cosy place to sleep/hide.

Volunteer Samantha is pictured with our bunnies Ghost and Sweet Pea with their indoor storm enclosure - which is up on trestles in case of flooding.

Ban live animal exports. Please sign the petition

Shipping live animals to overseas destinations causes them immense suffering - both during the harrowing journeys and (if they survive) at their destination.

Help sell this van to give Pablo a home

For Pablo's sake, please share this post widely.

Pablo has been staying at a boarding kennel for over a year now. He would thrive if he lived with our lovely volunteer, Hayley, and Hayley would love to adopt him - but this isn't possible until her mobile dog grooming van has been sold and a suitable property purchased.

If that happens before an ideal caregiver is found for him, Pablo will finally have a place to call his own.

Farewell to volunteer Wendy

When Wendy arrived in New Zealand for a 6 month holiday with her family, one of the first things she did was apply for a volunteering position with us. How lucky we and our animals are to have had her dog-walking and shelter help since October.

Sadly Wendy returns to the UK on Monday and will be sorely missed. However, she assures us she will return to NZ before long… and we can’t wait to welcome her back!

BON VOYAGE dear Wendy! Huge thanks for all the assistance and love you bring to humans and animals alike….
