TINY TOY POODLE SIBLINGS MUST NOT BE SEPARATED

The guardians of Tiffany and Thomas are very sad to part with them, but they are moving into a retirement village which does not allow pets. Anne and John are therefore looking for an ideal home for this 4-year-old pedigree brother and sister where they will be loved and pampered for the rest of their lives. In the words of their caregivers, “We are seeking a safe, loving home for them”.toypudels

Thomas is 10.5 inches high and weighs 3 kilos while his sister is a mere 9.5 inches high and weighs just 2.6 kilos. They are both de-sexed, micro-chipped, vaccinated and registered. They are great companions with wonderful personalities, who love attention. They enjoy loving interaction with their human family - which they reciprocate unconditionally.

Although they both get along well with other dogs, Tiffany and Thomas do bark at cats, so would best suit a feline-free home. Their accessories will go with them to their successful applicant.

If you have a securely fenced and gated property and the time, love and finances to indulge these little ones, then Anne, John and I eagerly await your application. Thank you.

PINOT NOIR SEEKS A LOVING RETIREMENT HOME

Pinot_facePinot has recently been bereaved and, due to the popularity of both Pinot and her caregiver Beth, many people contacted me about her homelessness. I too knew and loved Beth as we worked with others for over a decade to save Auckland’s Long Bay Hills. Beth adored her Pinot and from the day she collected her from a pet shop, she would talk endlessly about her to all and sundry. Pinot has known a lot of love and this must be the main feature in her new home too.Pinot5_Sitting

Pinot is a Huntaway X Doberman who will be turning ten in January 2012. She is now micro-chipped, vaccinated, registered, flea and worm treated and has just had her teeth de-scaled and polished. Pinot has a bit of a stiff gait, although her spirit is bright and she occasionally breaks into a joyful, short-lived jog during her walks. She loves people and other dogs and is indifferent to cats.

X-rays reveal that arthritis in Pinot’s front leg ankles is quite severe. For this reason her weight will need to be kept at about 26kg and she will need to continue on her special joint support diet and a regular pentosan injection. We have just begun a trial medication to determine whether it will help with her ankle discomfort. Climbing up stairs and up steep slopes is where Pinot struggles.

In Beth’s honour and because Pinot is the sweetest old lady imaginable, I am determined to find her a home where she has a contented, well catered for retirement.

IPinot_Masterpet_bedf you have a fully fenced and gated property with minimal stairs, if you can afford to maintain the cost of Pinot’s arthritis needs, if you have time to take her for slow walks and can give her plenty of human company, then I would love to hear from you. Although she enjoys being with children, a home with gentle, older children would be preferable, so that Pinot’s tender spots aren’t accidentally knocked. A couple or doting individual would be equally suitable.

NOTE: Many thanks to Masterpet for providing Pinot with the luxurious soft bed (pictured) that will go with her to her new home, to Beth's son Joel and her friend Stella for contributing towards Pinot’s care costs and to Ingrid and Daniel for so attentively fostering her. Much appreciated!

SWEET LAB X PUP SEEKS ACTIVE HOME

Now that this beautiful, 7-month-old puppy has recovered from her spaying operation, she is

pickles7ready to go to a fantastic home.

Pickles was born in Kaitaia to a homeless black Labrador named Bella. Because Bella’s nose is just a little longer than normal, she may have a smidgen of Pointer in her genes.

Although Pickles father is unknown, it is possible he may have been a Mastiff X English Staffy. Whatever the mixed breed gene pool, she is a gorgeous looking pup who is expected to reach about Lab size.

Pickles is fully vaccinated, micro-chipped, registered, flea and worm treated and has now been de-sexed.

She is black and white and is a very busy, curious and bright little girl who loves cuddles, walks, playful interaction, playing in water and food. She enjoys eating apple segments from time to time and peanut butter in her kong.

pickles6Pickles has just had her fourth professional dog training session and is proving to be very smart on the uptake. She has been in loving care from the day of her birth and this is reflected in her friendly temperament and her love of human attention. Of course she also enjoys playing with other dogs, has boisterous energy to burn and must have immediate group obedience training as a condition of her adoption. This will assist with her lead walking and recall and ensure bonding and leadership is quickly established.

If you own a fully fenced and gated property, have a budget to give a pup professional training and life-long veterinary care and if you have time, affection and energy to exercise the pup off your property every day; then I very much look forward to your application. This precious pup wins the hearts of all who meet her – could her ideal home be with you?

NOTE: Pickles mother has also been de-sexed and adopted and is happily living at a vegan retreat in Kaitaia. If you are able to help with the expense of raising Pickles and her littermates, please click here to donate.

TRINITY NEEDS AN ACTIVE & LOVING HOME

trinity3

Trinity is a Lab X Staffy who is approaching her third birthday. Weighing in at about 27kg, she is a medium-sized dog who stands at about knee height. With her brown spotted ears on a pure white coat and a trim, muscular build, she is a very attractive girl.

Originally rescued starving on a chain when she was about 12 months old, Trinity has overcome her awful start to life and is making the most of every adventure offered to her. She was lucky to have spent the last 18 months in a loving home. Sadly, her young caregiver must now live with her parents who do not want a dog in their lives and Anna has to leave the country in the near future.

Trinity loves to go for walks, to meet and play exuberantly with other dogs and to interact with lots of people. With her high energy levels, she needs to be walked at least once daily, but two walks would keep her twice as happy! Although her recall is fairly good, she pulls on the lead and is a strong and active dog. Attendance at a series of professional group obedience classes is a condition of her adoption - which will also hasten the bonding process with her new caregiver(s).

trinity

A cat-free home is sought because Trinity will chase them. Although she adores children, due to her boisterousness, toddlers may be knocked over. Therefore an active and loving family home with older children, a couple or an individual would be most suitable.

This pretty girl is used to indoor and outdoor access and to sleeping on her own bed in her mistresses bedroom. She enjoys car travel. One of her cute quirks is that she likes to lay on something - anything. If a blanket is not provided, she will curl up on an item of clothing or whatever she perceives as a bed.

Trinity is spayed, micro-chipped, vaccinated, registered and treated for fleas and worms. Her teeth are in great shape!trinity2

Anna describes Trinity as “…one of the most affectionate dogs I’ve met! She will more than happily cuddle and kiss a person. She loves attention and gets lonely if left at home alone, but she is good while I’m gone. She loves walks and swimming, and is obsessed with the beach where I take her daily. She will chase sticks far, far out in the water and dives for them. She likes to jump and swim over and through the waves. She is amazing in the water. Her sweetest trait is her love. It is extremely hard not to fall in love with Trinity. She is so cuddly and kissy. If I am crying or upset she tries to make things better. She will lick my face and dig her head into me until I cheer up. She is like a best friend. She really appreciates a good belly rub and a lot of attention. When I come home after a long day I see the love and excitement in her eyes.”

If you have good dog leadership skills, have a fully fenced and gated property, time to give Trinity plenty of love and exercise and if you are willing to commit to a series of dog training lessons in your area, I look forward to your application. Thank you.

MISTER URGENTLY NEEDS A RETIREMENT HOME

mister

UPDATE: I was surprised when Julita sent me an e-mail saying she had dropped Mister off at the SPCA before the date she needed to move house. Please note that the SPCA has a policy of keeping the outcome for surrendered animals strictly confidential.

Thank you so much to the four people who had applied for Mister's adoption through my advertisement in “That’s Life” magazine.

When Julita approached me about her very cute-looking, nine-year-old Jack Russell X, my heart went out to her. She has to leave her rental property at short notice and has not been able to find another home where dogs are permitted. She is extremely anxious about her situation and is praying that I can quickly find someone to foster or adopt Mister before she has to move into her new rental home. mister2

Her advertisements have drawn a blank and her house shifting date is fast approaching. In her words,“I have sleepless nights thinking about what one of the animal shelters told me - just to put him down. I cannot do that and for me it’s like killing another member of my family. I do not know where to put the dog. He is like my small baby. I used to feed him with my hand when he was unwell and didn’t want to eat - just to make it sure that he would not be hungry. Can you please help me Linda? All he needs is a home to live in. I can contribute towards his expenses”.

Mimister3ster has been living with Julita’s family since they saw his advertisement, “Free to a good home” in a local newspaper when he was just one year old.

With his cheeky face and the orange highlights through his brown coat, Mister will steal many hearts, but the successful applicant will need to be committed to taking some professional training. Mister cannot be trusted to come to the call, so needs to be walked on the leash; and because he has not been well socialised with other dogs, any applicants for this lively little fellow will need to be experienced with dogs.

I look forward to your adoption applications or your offers of foster care for him. Thank you so much.
